If Fredericksburg is the "beginning of Northern Virginia", by the Governor's own admission, then there shouldn't be any problem with staff and faculty getting "Northern Virginia" salaries here at Germanna should it?
ha ha! nice comment. maybe the hospital administration could implement the same theory for the non- technical/support staff it employs.
a living wage would be really appreciated.
Education is very important and I agree that employee retention will need to be looked at as it relates to NOVA salaries.
If our region is expanding then this impacts all of us in the Fredericksburg area such as education, Medical, non-profit organizations and many others.
I am glad that Gov. Kaine is in support of Educations and a fair person to look at all areas of our needs.
Thank you Governor for recognizing, education and the growth factor of Fredericksburg. By definition I wish the Governor would also realize that because of this growth and the cost index in this area we have become part of Northern Virginia whether our legislature wants to admit it or not. We in education have lost valuable talent in the hiring process becuse of the high cost of housing and general living in this area. Plus we loose people with valuable knowledge because of low saleries. Many a person that leaves has said, "I love my job and the people I work with but I have to think of my family."
